Monte Lupo Studio - 269 Padstow Rd, Eight Mile Plains

Suitable for aged 16+

Mosaic birdbath.  Your final creation will be around 700cm tall and 400 wide. No extra added embellishments, tiles only.

All levels of experience are welcome for this workshop, and all materials and equipment for the workshop will be supplied.

You don't need to bring anything on the day, except closed in shoes and clothes you don't mind getting decorated with clay.

The workshop is over 4 weeks - with 3 sessions 5th, 19th and 26th July 2025

SESSION 1: Saturday 5th July | 9am - 2pm

You will be shown how to coil build the birdbath base and top.  The base will be a simple coil construction and the bowl will be made separately in a metal wok.  The birdbaths will be mosaicked all over, so you will not be adding extra sculptural elements to base or top, just like the photo. The birdbaths will then dry for a week then be fired and ready to be mosaicked the following week.

SESSION 2: Saturday 19th July | 9pm - 1pm

You will be able to choose handmade Monte Lupo tiles to mosiac your birdbath all over.  You will start from the bottom of the birdbath and work your way up to the bowl.  The studio makes so many beautiful tiles that you can choose from.

SESSION: Saturday 26th July | 9pm - 12pm

This is the final week and you will grout your birdbath. You will choose the colour grout you want your birdbath to be, then you will grout.  Once you have finished grouting and polishing your birdbath you will take it home on that very night of the third class.

it is recommended you bring towels or cushions to third class so you can pack your creation safely in your car.

it is recommended that you do silicon the birdbath to a concrete paver in your garden. Just in case a large creature tried to drink out of the birdbath.
